The Sothea 5-Star luxury boutique hotel a member of Preferred Boutique, a beautiful eco-chic all-suite resort is nestled in the heart of Siem Reap, known for the UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Temples. The hotel was built by a businessman who is widely respected in the local community as a fitting tribute to his wife on her 50th birthday, which explains the adaptation of her name "Sothea". With the lady, Sothea in mind the whole property has been created to showcase natural beauty as evident from its landscaping which features intimate gardens, fountains and water accents as well as hints of her Cambodian heritage with Khmer artisanship subtly infused in the architectural and interior design. The inherent feminine values of hospitality, graciousness and warmth have also been used as the driving inspiration for the service standards intended to be applied through out the entire facility. The hotel will be the very first in Cambodia to offer full butler service for each of its suites. 

The Story

They met in the earlier days of their lives, back when Cambodia was the celebrated "Paris of the East." His future was full of promise, she was a budding beauty and theirs was a young love. War broke out. When the dark period ensued, it seemed fate has parted them. Then peace came and hope acrose. Undaunted, he looked until he found her. It has always been her and so it always will.

This is the story of an incessant love for a woman named Sothea. This love roused a vision. It was the image of an oasis of gardens and flowing water, located right in the midst of the seat of Khmer culture, Siem Reap.

This eventually was the sanctuary she inspired. It was this tribute to her on her 50th birthday in salute of their triumphant journey in life together. It is his personal ode to the muse and the strength that she has been for him and their children. They called this haven The Sothea.

Opened on February 14, 2009, The Sothea is Siem Reap's newest luxury boutique resort. It is one of Conde Nast Traveler (USA)'s Hot Listed Hotels for 2009.

Designed after the ancient royal bathing pool, Srah Srang, The Sothea's swimming pool is definitely its "piece de resistance". Salt watered and underlain with gold leaves, it literally shimmers on broad daylight or on sheer moonlight.
